Letter to the "Liberal West", UN and EU, who are supporting the current al-Qaeda/ISIS Junta in Syria

(Unfinished) Letter to the "Liberal West", UN and EU, who are supporting the current al-Qaeda/ISIS Junta in Syria

To whom it may concern,

We strongly oppose the statement made by Hadja Lahbib, in which she expressed continued financial support to Syria, while failing to address the grave implications of such aid being directed to the de facto authorities currently in control of the country. These regions are dominated by extremist factions led by Abu Mohammad al-Joulani, also known as Ahmed al-Sharaa, the leader of HTS (previously, Jabhat al-Nusra) an affiliate of Al-Qaeda. This individual, once the right-hand man of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, has been recognized as a terrorist by the United States, the United Nations, and the European Union.

Providing financial aid under these circumstances, without rigorous oversight, raises significant concerns. It risks empowering a terrorist organization and its leadership, who are responsible for heinous crimes against the Syrian people, particularly minorities, including acts of murder, torture, and ethnic cleansing. It is inconceivable that the international community would allow such a figure, with a well-documented history of terrorism, to position himself as a leader over an entire nation. The Syrian people reject the rule of extremists such as al-Joulani, whose terroristic actions and ideology have caused unimaginable suffering. The manipulation of the future of an entire nation to accept the rule of a terrorist is a gross injustice and a betrayal of the principles of democracy, justice, and human rights. We urge the international community to:
1) Cease any financial aid to areas under the control of extremist groups or their affiliates until strict oversight mechanisms are in place.
2) Publicly denounce the atrocities committed by the current de facto authorities in Syria, particularly against minorities, and hold them accountable for their actions.
3) Reaffirm that no terrorist or individual associated with extremist organizations will be recognized as a legitimate leader or ruler of Syria.
4) Prioritize the voices of the Syrian people, who demand a future free from terrorism, extremism, and authoritarianism. The fate of an entire nation cannot and must not be left in the hands of those who have perpetuated violence and destruction. Supporting such entities risks further destabilizing the region and undermining the fundamental values the international community claims to uphold. The Syrian people deserve true support—aid that empowers them to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity, without the shadow of extremism. We urge the international community to act responsibly and ensure that their actions reflect these principles.
